Oddly Enough

Oddly enough, here we are

My brain makes up about two percent of my body weight and uses roughly a fifth of my energy at rest, which is my excuse for needing a snack after writing these.

The Eiffel Tower was only meant to stand for twenty years, and one of the things that kept it standing was its usefulness as a giant radio antenna.

Big Diomede, which is Russian, and Little Diomede, which is American, sit about 2.4 miles apart in the Bering Strait, with the International Date Line between them putting them 21 hours apart.

The first webcam was pointed at a coffee pot in a Cambridge computer lab in 1991, so people elsewhere in the building could check for coffee before making the walk.

In 1982 a computer scientist named Scott Fahlman suggested typing :-) on a Carnegie Mellon message board to mark jokes, and the internet has been misreading tone ever since.

Five of these, every morning, nothing connecting them.

See you tomorrow,
Oddly Enough
